Kiddom Announces Series C Funding

Today marks an exciting day for the Kiddom team! We’ve announced a $35M round of Series C funding that gives us room to invest in doing what we do best: building technology to unlock potential for all teachers and learners.

You’re welcome to review the details of this round of fundraising via TechCrunch or our press release. Internally, we’re thrilled to reach this milestone and to be able to celebrate what this means for the future. But here, we want to talk about how we’re going to use these funds to improve upon what we do for educators at Kiddom.

Why did we fundraise?

Since Kiddom was founded, we’ve been on fire about one thing and one thing only: building technology to unlock potential for all teachers and learners.

We specify “all teachers and learners” because educational equity is at the heart of everything we do – and yet, certain issues stand in the way of that mission.

67% of districts report having access to low quality curriculum. We see a dearth of pK-12 high quality instructional materials available to classrooms. This lack of access leads to decreased productivity – Teachers are stuck spending seven hours per week trying to author or find teaching materials. This results in overworked teachers and an inability to reach the students that need it the most.

It’s no secret that these problems of access, teacher enablement, and equity have been exacerbated by the pandemic. In fact, the rush to solve these problems in response to the pandemic has made them worse.

Using these funds, we’re going to ensure more classrooms across the country and around the world can access high quality digital curriculum. We believe it’s our responsibility to ensure all classrooms can access the best instructional materials via technology designed for dynamic pedagogies and student engagement.

What’s coming next?

Offer Even More pK-12 Curriculum

At Kiddom, we believe the future of education lies at the intersection of high quality instructional materials for pK-12 paired with a platform that enables dynamic teaching and learning.  Kiddom has been fortunate enough to partner with some of the best publishers in the market.

Using this latest round of funding, we’re excited to incorporate even more high quality instructional materials, which means we’ll be able to offer more curriculum in the Kiddom platform across grade bands and content areas. Our goal is for classrooms to be able to rely on one tool to find, contextualize, and share fantastic learning materials with students across pK-12.

Support A Wider Range of Learning Models

Now, more than ever, schools are thinking about the various ways students learn: in-person, blended, hybrid, and distance models are all in use in classrooms today and teachers need to be able to pivot between them. Kiddom will invest in technology to help classrooms operate with more flexibility to ensure students can learn as learning models shift and evolve.

More Teacher Requested Features

We pride ourselves on talking to the educators we serve on a near-daily basis. Every day, teachers let us know what’s going well and what could be improved. From those conversations, one thing is clear to us: there is much work to be done to help teachers get back to doing what they do best; connecting with and inspiring young people. As a result, we intend to deliver on new requested features faster. We’ll be introducing some of these new features, including more interactivity infused in lessons, as soon as this fall season!

Grow the Kiddom Team

With so much work ahead of us in improving the Kiddom experience for all, we’re going to need to recruit and hire new team members. We’re excited to grow the team with technical talent as well as seasoned leaders to help Kiddom help more teachers and learners faster.

Thank You!

Kiddom exists to serve educators; without the teachers and students who log in every day, we wouldn’t be here. We are delighted to continue on this journey, building technology that unlocks potential for all teachers and learners.
